Is Lionel Messi on the verge of signing a contract extension?

Lionel Messi has a contract with Barcelona which extends until 2018 but recent rumors have been suggesting that the Argentinean player is edging closer to a new deal that could see him remaining at the Camp Nou beyond what it currently has stipulated.


The 29 year old forward has once again proved why he is considered to not only be the best in the world but also the best playr in the history of the game as he edged the victory against Real Madrid when they faced off on April 23.

The diminutive star scored 2 goals which helped Barcelona in defeating Real Madrid with a final scoreboard of 3-2 and it’s rumored that the head chiefs want to reward Lionel Messi by offering him a new and improved contract.

As each year and season passes by, there are rumors which link Messi with a potential move to another club. It has not been any different this time around as the current season of 2016-17 is about to reach it’s end and managers are already thinking about how they can upgrade their respective squads, Lionel Messi is one of those players that any club would love to have.

This is another reason of why Barcelona are believed to be working towards offering Lionel Messi with a new and better deal that would keep the Argentinean player past 2018 which is what it currently has written on his deal with the Catalan club. RIQUELME – MESSI AND RONALDO ARE STILL VERY IMPORTANT

Argentina football legend Juan Roman Riquelme has opened up on what he feels about the two biggest stars in the game: Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

The former Boca Juniors, Barcelona and Villarreal player claims that Spanish side Real Madrid and Argentina would suffer if both stars were to stop playing now.

“Argentina without Messi is a normal team, but this of course the best player in the world. The same thing would happen to Real Madrid without Cristiano Ronaldo,” Riquleme told Chilean media.

MESSI POSTPONES VISIT TO EGYPT UNTIL FEBRUARY

Lionel Messi, Barcelona’s sensational forward, was supposed to be in Egypt sometime this month on a medical tourism campaign, but has agreed to the postponement of his visit till February next year.


The postponement of his visit, came on the heels of the bombing of a church in Cairo, Egypt last Sunday.

Messi, whose visit was aimed at the promotion of Egypt’s Tour n’ Cure Hepatitis C. medical tourism campaign will now wait till February next year before making his visit, according to the website of Prime Pharma, the organizers of the visit.

Tamer Wagih, the CEO of Prime Pharma, who are the organizers of the Tour n’ Cure mentioned that Messi, five time winner of the Ballon D’Or, sent his condolences to the bereaved families in the church attack on Sunday, as he also noted that he understands their reason for postponing his visit, as necessary security measures.

Argentina Will Play Lionel Messi If Fit, ConfirmsBauza

Argentina national team coach Edgardo Bauza says Barcelona have not come in with a request to rest Lionel Messi for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.


The player is reportedly tired after having been involved in football action continuously for the last four years. His performance has declined during the 2015-16 season and it was a major factor in the club being unable to lift the Champions League title. The 29-year-old has been experiencing problems with his hamstring just before the start of the World Cup qualifiers for Argentina. The player ended the 1-0 win over Athletic Bilbao on Sunday with a little discomfort.

It was later learnt that his left hamstring had been giving him problems and it was advised that the problem may increase if he takes part in the World Cup qualifiers. After having just convinced him to return to the national team, managerBauza was facing a tight situation with regard to the availability of the player. He has dismissed suggestions that Barcelona have requested him to leave out Messi for the upcoming game against Uruguay and Venezuela. The game against Uruguay will be seen as the toughest from the Argentine camp’s view. The potential absence of Sergio Aguero makes it even more imperative for Argentina to have the presence of Messi on the pitch.
