Lionel Messi is set to break more records in the La Liga this term with Barcelona. Barca arefavourites to retain the title despite the expected increased competition from Real Madrid and Atletico. The Argentine may miss his team’s first game in the La Liga on Friday when they face Athletic Bilbao.

Messi is not yet cleared to feature as he recovers from a calf injury. He was not even in the team that faced Napoli in the United States as he focuses on returning to action quickly. Messi is expected to recover and claim the highest goalscorer in the new season, equaling Hugo Sanchez’s record for four in a row. He has scored 33 hat tricks and could equal the 34 Cristiano Ronaldo holds in the La Liga. Messi has won the Pichichi six times already, tied with TelmoZarra. He is expected to break off this season.

Messi is Europe’s top scorer for three straight seasons. He is expected to continue in this light, making it seven times in total. In terms of assists, El Clasicoand Best Player in the league, there is none that compares to Messi.

All these were the talking points as Ronaldo claims he is the King of the Champions League in his latest documentary with DAZN. The 33-year old Juve star claims winning the Champions League with multiple clubs gives him the edge over his rival. Ronaldo has won the UCL five times, once at United and four at Real Madrid compared to Messi winning all four times at Barcelona.

Ronaldo said being the top scorer for six years, winning as many UCL titles and with two different teams powers his claim to identify with the European elite tournament. He said money aside, making a name in the annals of history is all he thinks of each morning he sees a new day.

Fans obsessed with Ronaldo’s comments, largely agreeing with him as the UCL King for now, but no one comes close to Messi in the La Liga which starts soon.

Fabregas Will Try To Make Messi “Uncomfortable”

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has promised to make his former teammate at Barcelona Lionel Messi “uncomfortable” when both sides clash at the Camp Nou. Both sides are set to clash on Wednesday for the return leg of the Round of 16 Champions League clash. The first leg ended 1-1 with Willian and Messi scoring.

The 30-year old Spaniard said he is stoked to meet the Barca side and will be at his best at the crucial game. The Blues’ best bet will be to hold the attacks from the Catalan side and get a lucky break that will send them to the next round. So far the reverse fixtures have been a bit shocking.

Liverpool played out a barren draw against Porto in the second leg at Anfield and Manchester City lost at home to Basel 2-1. Tottenham, who put up a spirited performance against Juventus in the first leg, lost at home to the Italian side 2-1 despite going up first. Recently Manchester United lost at home to the poorest Sevilla side in recent years to crash out of the coveted competition.

“If I am lucky enough to play, it’s true that we are positioned in nearby areas of the pitch, stopping [Messi] will be difficult but I will try to do everything possible so that he feels uncomfortable and can’t put together a perfect performance.  I see him as a rival who wants to win, and I want the same thing,” Fabregas promised ahead of the game.

Chelsea have history in the favour and going by recent developments in the knockout stage this term, it would not be far off for the Antonio Conte led side to shock Barca at home.

Argentina star man Lionel Messi might not appear at the forthcoming World Cup next year in Russia, going by the results the team is posting.

A world Cup without the Barcelona star can be imagined as the South American side continually fall short of the magic expected of them, even with the diminutive magician featuring.

Other top stars like Angel di Maria, Sergio Aguero, Gonzalo Higuain and the rest might also sit out the world event in the summer of 2018. They have another chance against Venezuela when both sides clash on their ground in Buenos Aires on Tuesday.

The team would likely have to go to the playoffs where they would compete against the Oceania winner New Zealand. With the form of the Kiwis, the Copa America finalists should not expect a walk in the park. Burnley star Chris Wood is in top form and he recently netted a hat trick. The Kiwis would be desperate to frustrate and possibly complete the demystification of Lionel Messi and the Argentinean side. Continue reading “MESSI MIGHT NOT PLAY IN RUSSIA 2018”
