Ghanaian international Kevin-Prince Boateng has revealed how training with Barcelona captain Lionel Messi left him speechless while he was at the club. In an exclusive interview with DAZN, Kevin-Prince Boateng talked about his short Barcelona spell and how it was like to train with Lionel Messi, who’s widely regarded as one of the best players in the history of the round leather game.

Kevin-Prince Boateng currently plays his club football for Italian Serie B club Monza and he has scored two goals in six league outings for his new club. He left Italian topflight side Fiorentina at the end of last season on the back of him returning from his short term loan spell at Turkish Super League giants Besiktas.

He talked about his short loan spell at Barcelona in the first half of 2019. While he was a Sassuolo player during the 2019/20 campaign, Kevin-Prince Boateng joined five-time European champions Barcelona on loan in January 2019 until the end of that season. He went on to play four times for the Blaugrana before his exit last summer.

On the shock move to Barcelona, Boateng revealed that he was shocked at the interest in his services from Barcelona and that his initial thought was that Espanyol and not Barcelona were interested in him. Espanyol and Barcelona are Catalan rivals.

He further stated how he changed his mind on training with ‘The Greatest’ Lionel Messi. According to him, he had always said that Juventus player Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player in the world. Watching Lionel Messi live in training left him in awe of the little magician as he said that the Argentine national team captain is something else and also not normal in a complementary way. Kevin-Prince Boateng said that he felt inadequate while training with Lionel Messi.
